Aethir, a scrappy decentralized compute platform, just launched a whopping $100 million fund to fuel artificial intelligence (AI) and gaming projects. Dubbed the Aethir Ecosystem Fund, it aims to accelerate adoption of Aethir’s neat cloud infrastructure network that lets data centers and crypto miners chip in idle graphics processing unit (GPU) resources.
The star of the show is a $20 million grant program called Aethir Catalyst that will dole out funds over the next year to over 100 startups and companies building cutting-edge innovations in AI and gaming – two industries gobbling up compute power nowadays. More than just doling out cash, Aethir seeks to ink strategic partnerships with these folks to shape the future of both sectors.
“Aethir Catalyst shows dedication to transparent and east access to GPU compute for AI” said Aethir co-founder Mark Rydon. “By putting $20 million into this fund, we’re making sure the most promising companies have the fuel they need to soar, breaking down barriers to compute power.”
The fund’s launch follows Aethir unveiling its network on the Ethereum mainnet in June 2022. The platform enables decentralized data centers and cloud providers to chip in graphics processing power through blockchain-based protocols called DePINs.
