The Curaçao Chronicle reports that Curaçao may change its licensing system for online gambling operators. The corresponding proposal was put forward by the country’s Finance Minister Javier Silvania, speaking at a meeting with business representatives. The event was dedicated to the reform of gambling legislation.
As Javier Silvania stressed, Curaçao is now suffering losses of millions of dollars due to the poor quality of the licensing system in the field of online gambling.
It is reported that all existing sublicenses in the foreseeable future will be transferred to a new system with the possibility of converting their sublicense into a transitional license, which will be valid for 12 months. There will be additional elements in the new system. In addition to strengthening anti-money laundering measures, licensees will also have to hire at least three local employees in “key positions”.
