Popular Twitch streamer xQc apparently won big time by betting on the recent CS2 Major Copenhagen tournament. Reports say he put down a huge bet on Natus Vincere ultimately beating FaZe Clan 2-1 in the grand finals match. His wager ended up paying over $800k, which is just crazy when you think about it being more than the actual tournament’s total prize pool that the players competed for.
The streamer xQc is mainly known for his casual gaming streams where he’s chatting with viewers, but he’s made it pretty clear over the years that he’s into gambling too. He often livestreams himself playing casino games and whatnot. He’s mentioned before that his the streaming contract doesn’t prohibit him legally from betting or anything like that. The amount he’s betting seems to just keep getting bigger and bigger to where it’s hard not to notice.
During that intense grand finals match between NAVI and FaZe, xQc had another streamer hop in his channel who pointed out that if his bet hit, xQc would literally win more money than the players competing in the entire tournament could.
That CS2 tournament was wild even aside from the betting drama. There was that crazy moment when protesters stormed the stage during the quarter-final between MOUZ and G2, apparently organized by some shady gambling company founder.
xQc had also bet on MOUZ in that match. He was so disappointed when the protest was interrupted because he thought MOUZ still had a chance for a comeback before that. The streamer said it really messed with the vibe and atmosphere of the event.
